This is an appeal from a district court order awarding attorney fees and costs in a public records action. After successfully petitioning for access to records under the NPRA, the LVRJ and the Clark County Coroner’s office stipulated that the LVRJ would have until March 9, 2018 to request attorney fees. The LVRJ requested attorney fees on March 9, 2018, and the district court granted the LVRJ’s request.
ISSUES:
The Coroner’s office now challenges the award on several grounds, including that the district court, despite the parties’ stipulation to extend, impermissibly extended the attorney fee deadline, and that the NPRA immunizes a governmental entity from an award of attorney fees when the government responds to a records request in good faith.

In Re: Judicial Discipline of Rena Hughes

This is an appeal from a decision by the Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline (Commission) imposing a public reprimand on family court judge Rena Hughes. The discipline stems from one of Judge Hughes’ cases in which she held a mother in contempt and switched custody of a minor child from the mother to the father without following the proper procedures.
ISSUES:
On appeal, Judge Hughes argues (1) the Commission cannot discipline her for making an incorrect legal ruling; (2) the Commission’s finding that she violated various judicial canons is not supported by clear and convincing evidence, (3) she was prejudiced by the Commission’s exclusion of her proffered evidence, and (4) the Commission exceeded its authority by requiring her to answer written interrogatories before a formal statement of charges had been filed.
