In collaboration with Data Savvy Consulting, the Court Improvement Program (CIP) released three reports pertaining to its mission and programs.
The first report explores race equity within Nevada’s foster care system – especially as it relates to timeliness and permanency. It is an initial exploration into race equity for the families involved in the child welfare system using data disaggregated by race/ethnicity to assess the State as a whole. Although the scope of the data limits conclusive takeaways that can be made, it is helpful nonetheless as the findings will be used as indicators of where to dive deeper. The second report explores race equity as it relates to CIP’s Juvenile Dependency Mediation Program (JDMP). Part of CIP’s mission in establishing JDMP was to better ensure that all children and families within Nevada reach their best possible outcome. To view the report, please click here.
The third report consists of information about parents' perspectives of, and experience with, the child welfare court system. The goal of the study is to better understand hearing practice in child welfare cases in Nevada, by learning more about how parents respond to the child welfare hearing process.
