Appellant William Keck was convicted of first-degree murder with the use of a deadly weapon, attempted murder with the use of a deadly weapon, manslaughter killing of an unborn quick child, attempted burglary while in possession of a deadly weapon, and assault with the use of a deadly weapon. He was sentenced to death for the murder. Keck’s convictions and sentences were affirmed on direct appeal. He then argued that he received ineffective assistance of trial and appellate counsel. The district court disagreed and denied Keck’s postconviction petition for a writ of habeas corpus. This appeal followed.

ISSUES:

The primary issues in this appeal are whether Keck received ineffective assistance of trial and appellate counsel.
